    What does membership cost?

    There are three levels of membership:

  • Professional - $113
  • Student - $60
  • Associate - $170

    Renewal costs are the same - less the one time processing fee of $15.

    Who should join IAAP?
    Administrative professionals (e.g. Executive Assistants/Secretaries, Administrative Assistants/Secretaries, Office Professionals in a support environment, etc.) who consider themselves in a career profession and desire to enhance and/or develop their personal and professional skills personal and professional skills.

    How does my attendance at meetings help me get ahead or improve my skills?
    A sampling of topics presented at past meetings includes: Elements of Public Speaking; Event Planning for Executive Assistants; Business Etiquette – Domestic & International; How to Prepare a Presentation in PowerPoint; and 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

    We encourage members to network and often call fellow members with questions, situations and job-related topics. In this way we gather solutions, new ideas and information about our profession.

    When are the meetings?
    The chapter meets every third Thursday of the month for dinner in the downtown San Francisco area. The Board of Directors meets every first Thursday of the month to discuss the business of the chapter. This meeting includes chapter members, their guests, and prospective members and all are encouraged to attend and participate.

    Is there a charge to attend meetings?
    Dinner meetings are currently average $15 for members and $20 for guests. Offers to host meetings in your office or building are welcome and much appreciated. Please contact with details (i.e.: room size, lead-time, and parking information.

    Would my employer possibly reimburse me?
    If your employer supports other employees in professional organizations, it will likely reimburse you for your membership and participation in IAAP. Receipts are available upon request.

    What happens at a typical meeting?
    Speakers are invited to present on timely business related topics. Join your peers over dinner (e.g. sandwich, pizza, hot buffet, etc.). Great opportunity to become familiar with a variety of downtown San Francisco locations while connecting with other career minded professionals.

    What is the dress code for the meetings? Will I be pressured to join?
    The dress is business casual, and no, we will not pressure potential members to join. We have a display table for chapter information for guests and guests are welcome to take them and consider whether or not to join. You will receive our monthly meeting notices for a period of 6 months.

    Who makes up your chapter’s board?
  • President
  • First Vice-President
  • Treasurer

    The Advisory committee, made of past presidents, also participates. All board meetings are always open for members to attend and participate.

    How does one become an officer?
    Be a member in good standing for 6 to 12 months, participate in the chapter activities and run for office.

    Is your chapter involved in the community?
    Yes. We participate in as many community service projects that we can. Past chapter partners include:

    • Adopt-A-Family program
    • La Casa de las Madres
    • KQED | PBS
    Is IAAP a non-profit organization?
    Yes. IAAP is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service of the U.S. as a 501 (c) (6) nonprofit corporation. IAAP Retirement Centers Trust and the R&E Foundation are recognized as exempt as "charitable" organizations under Section 501( c )c(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions made to the Trust and/or R&E Foundation are deductible by donors as provided in Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.
